Jeffrey M. Pelton

Jeffrey M. Pelton grew up in West Michigan and attended Grand Valley State University, where he earned a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Philosophy. Mr. Pelton attended the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law in Grand Rapids, Michigan (now the Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley School of Law), during which time, he worked as a Discovery Analyst for the Law Office of James Betzold, J.D. and as a Law Clerk at the Law Firm of Siver & Associates, PLLC., gaining exposure to areas of bankruptcy law and collections. In September of 2010, Mr. Pelton accepted an externship position at a Chicago-based firm focusing on real estate litigation and mortgage foreclosure defense, where he continued to work as a Law Clerk after earning his Juris Doctor degree cum laude in January of 2011, and then as an Associate Attorney after being admitted to practice law in the state of Illinois on May 5, 2011.

In 2012, in recognition of Mr. Pelton’s supervision and training of several junior Associate Attorneys and support staff, Mr. Pelton’s successful efforts to expand the firm’s real estate litigation practice (including evictions and foreclosure defense), and Mr. Pelton’s successful diversification of the firm’s practice to include areas of administrative law, appellate practice, business litigation, and probate, Mr. Pelton was promoted to Senior Associate Attorney, a position he held until he accepted his current position at Wator & Zac, LLC.

Mr. Pelton has worked as an Associate Attorney at Wator & Zac, LLC since June of 2015, where he has successfully applied his courtroom experience, creative approach to advocacy, and exceptional organizational and administrative skills for the benefit of Wator & Zac, LLC’s clientele in areas including title disputes, mechanics liens, evictions, foreclosure defense, probate, collection defense, business litigation, family law, and bankruptcy. Mr. Pelton is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association, is admitted to practice as a member of the general bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and is licensed to practice before all state courts within Illinois.
